Somerset West was open yesterday, a really nice guy, told me they are bit full, because they where doing 3 learners exam sessions. But he told me to come back ofter 2pm then they should be good, he offered to give me a que number. Or else I could do it today (Sunday)

This morning it seems that half the town had the same idea. Lol, will try during the week.

Just a tip, you can download the application form from the city of cape town website, print and fill, or just full in with Adobe. It saves another whole step, if you see where the delays are, it's people taking 5 minutes to fill in the blue form, then the eye test. If you can skip steps it should be esiser.

So you have no issue with a half blind 95 year old person driving around? :D
Maybe if you go over a certain age like 70. It's just stupid to require it from everybody when you literally have to be blind as a bat to pose a real danger.

You can book at Verulem and Winkelspruit. There is an email address and phone numbers. I booked telephonicially at Winkelspruit in July but skipped the appointment as my ID was not ready yet. Booked via email for this week in Verulem. My wife did hers at Verulem last December through the booking system. She was in and out in 10 minutes

My traffic department said they still test everyone. Only if you fail then they will they accept the test from the optometrist.
Odd. I didn't need to do an eye test at all: I just showed them the certificate from my optometrist. This was in Edenvale in March of this year.

Another ripple in the pond for this sh*tole.
:mad::mad:

I'm one of the lucky ones who managed to save a lot with WFH... was willing to drop cash on 2nd hand car purchase but after dealing with useless car dealerships and now not being able to get a damn license renewal slot I'm officially over it.

Next stop for my current sh**bucket is either a scrap heap or in the hands of a family member.
I don't care about "repercussions" anymore. No license, no insurance.... no fhokol.
Would rather grow my capital and find another way than sit here like a complete d00s and scramble to find ways to circumvent the minefield that is a collapsed government.

Like I've said, no point in trying to be civil in an uncivil society with a government that is nothing but a mirage.
Let the chips fall where they may.

Is there an advantage using this vs. just rocking up on a random day?
Well, I have been trying to book a renewal for my drivers licence card using the system and I cannot find any open slots at all.
So for me, the system does not work.
I have mailed them, they replied and when I started asking difficult questions, they stopped replying.

Nothing has changed. I actually do not know how to renew my licence card now.

Scramble to renew driver's licences before deadline

South Africans are scrambling to renew their driver’s licences before the 31 August deadline, but problems with the online booking system are causing frustration among motorists.

Last year, the transport minister extended the grace period to renew driving licences that expired between 26 March 2020 and December 2020 until 31 August 2021.

With the deadline now less than three weeks away, many South Africans are rushing to renew their licences.
ag shem waiting until the last movement
