Morning,
As I recently discovered, allot of people seem to fall victim to MTN's (and other sp's) nontransparent maze-like business model, filled with more traps than a Indiana Jones movie.
I recently used some of my acquired loyalty points to purchase a 24-hour uncapped bundle. half an hour later I received a sms reading:
"Y'ello, You have purchased 24Hour data bundle using 1700 Loyalty Points. Your available Point balance is XXXXX points."
I can already see some of you cringing... but I will continue. By reading that SMS, I found it reasonable to assume my business is completed, I connected my phone to my PC and let rip. (6 Gig Battlefield update, all the expansions 10+ gig, dota2 update, etc. Just lovely.)
At nine o'clock the next morning I got a SMS saying that the bundle is now loaded and I should go activate it...
Needless to say my un-billed balance is rather larger than usual in the same manner that I imagine a six foot pole being shoved up your wazoo would be rather more painful than a paper-cut (My loyalty points balance has quadrupled!).
If anybody has been or know somebody who has been through a similar experience, I would love to talk to them.
I have looked through the law a bit and where I do believe that I have a strongish case as is, I believe I can absolutely nuke them by having a affidavit or two of people who has been mislead in the past into thinking the same. The case being that if MTN knows they are misleading people with their notices, they should have made an effort to correct it.
I know those people are out there, I saw a couple on hellopeter and even on myBB.
I will open a site and post the documents there (with permission of course) for other people who may find themselves in a similar predicament in future to protect the average Joe from these big companies.
I would really appreciate any help you can give.
Thanks and wish me luck,
madrynn
