Anyone know exactly what the cause of death was for either athelete? I know people get have issues with privacy, but when someone dies in a public endurance event, it seems pretty important that the public understand why. I know way too many couch potatoes who've decided that completing Comrades is a bucket list item even though they've never even done a 5k.

Low Blood Sodium (hyponatremia) can also be dangerous for endurance athletes.

Yeah, that was when it was moved off the public holiday (31st May I think), but they still used to run the race in early June. This is probably the latest the race has ever been held...

Really? You don't know anyone who did it, so it must not be true? And in case you're jumpting to the wrong conclusions here, I'm not implying someone getting off the couch, throw on some tekkies and go for an 89km jog. Let's not be silly. I can think of at least 6 people I've known over the years who went from, at best, 20 minute jogs on the treadmill in the gym, to finishing Comrates. All of them decided to do it after some life-changing event motivated them - one said she'd do it if she beat cancer (she did both), one did it after his fater was shot in a hijacking shortly before running his nth comrades, etc. All of them got onto a beginners programs, join groups/clubs/charities or whatever, started taking part in 5ks and 10ks and parkruns, etc, building up to it.

Maybe learn to express yourself properly... Do you NOT see the difference in the comments I highlighted above??

Most were fine. Some very young. I know one in her 20s who spent some time in the ICU. They were not vaccinated because Bill Gates... or some other reasons. The older one unfortunately could have been due to lack of knowledge or due to manipulation.
