Security and crime preparations for total Eskom blackout in South Africa

These experts probably also stocked up en masse on canned food at the end of 1999

No you can't..

But its not like these guys are telling us anything we don't already know. If anything the spike in crime is the least of this countries worries if we do experience a total blackout.

This is just sensationalist reporting and some muppets wanting their 5min of fame.

Of course it is..

Because crime is the thing everyone worries about, without actually paying attention to the really BIG issues that would crop up from a total nationwide blackout.

If we get a nationwide blackout we're all kinds of screwed.

I think certain crimes will just be par for the course. Looting, theft etc.

Obviously no one wants to be murdered or raped but I think that its not like we will all turn in to murderous deviants as soon as the lights go out. Most people will be worried about access to food and water.

If you are referring to the aftermath and getting this country back on its feet again after the blackout... then yes. That will be the big issue.

I'm not referring to the aftermath..

The lack of electricity will have way more consequences that are considerably worse than crime.

No water after a few days (at most)
No Fuel for transporting goods or any sort of travel.. The interior of the country would quite literally grind to a complete and utter standstill in a few days when the fuel runs out.

Yes and food shortages, no cold storage etc.

When the country is starving I'm not too worried about theft and damage to property.

Telecoms will go down as well. That means the JSE dies. Banking dies. Everything does. This kills the economy and a whole bunch of people, I suspect.

Pathetic click bait BS. I'm so sick of this crap to be honest.

I also hate being forced to click on links. With all the money we donate to mybb every month they shouldn't rely on clicks or advertising to generate revenue!

oh wait...

I really doubt whether such a thing will happen, but I have entertained the thought.

I'm mostly concerned about the rush to the airport.

Also, the 1st thing I will do the moment it happens is EFT all my money to an overseas account, the generators should last long enough I think.
