If I applied my mind to that I would likely come up with a solution. Although, you make a valid point, you would need to have the usability of more than one shot

rather 3d print a gatling crossbow, or a bunch of them

Hmmm.... Nope, not while we live in a country where it'a acceptable for politicians to threaten to genocide minorities with impunity.
Not while we live in a country where mobs attack and raid foreigners while the police looks on.
Besides... i'd rather get killed by a gun than rocks and pangas.

And who said there is no death penalty in SA? It is just facilitated via legislation against the law-abiding. Good luck defending ourselves against heavily armed SAPS/SANDF-equipped criminals using only chopsticks.

So similar to Australian gun laws.

Applicants for a gun owner's licence need a genuine reason to own a firearm, for example gun club membership, hunting, target shooting, firearm collection, pest control, and narrow occupational uses.
Gun owners can only have the number of guns specified on their licence and there are limits on the ammunition they can buy in a given period

And an applicant for a firearm licence in Australia must pass a background check which considers criminal, mental health, physical, addiction, domestic violence, residential and other records.

Gun owners must re-apply and re-qualify every one to five years depending on the licence category.
Yep it seems so...funny how these African revolutionaries continually copy the Western ideas and just implement without a second thought eh?
Oh wait...you need some form of intelligence to come up with solutions to African problems.
Afri-Intelligence maybe?

From the link in the OP: (homicides per 100 000 people, note that SA is actually 8th worst and not all countries have a value)
Austalia 1
SA 34
World Average 5
Sub Saharan Africa 9

Clearly SA is more of a war zone than a country, so why should we have the same laws as a first world country?

Actually we are worse than a war zone , more civilians killed in S.A. than in Syria over the same period from 2011 - 2018.

Average 37 per day
Average 50+ per day

The powers that be are delusional in thinking that, by simple implementing a law, somehow, magically, it will reduce gun related violence.

Easy. No problem. Just buy an illegal firearm. If you ever need to use it, just say you took it off the criminal you killed. Disarming innocent citizens within such a high crime-ridden country is not an option.

They know an uprising is coming. The people are fed up. They are just ensuring the public don't have proper weapons to use in their uprising.

Correct. One fact you cannot get past is to look at all countries where genocide occurred in the past... all these governments disarmed their citizens before killing them.

-- update --

SAPS has just been slammed and told to go back and rethink. The committee has just killed the amnesty as well as the draft bill.
They will not hold an amnesty without the court case decision as well as seeing the draft bill. Without both, there will be NO amnesty. We've won this round.
