Thats not what the Left media would let you believe:ROFL:

Twitter is about to collapse and Mastadon is taking over.
There's a lot of negativity about Mastodon's lack of dedicated / rapid / automated moderation.

Also saw some negativity about the fact that handles aren't unique across instances, allowing for impersonation.

Hence them punting Post and Hive and whatnot.

But yeah there's a lot of "Twitter is on the brink of collapse".

We'll see. I don't see Elon flushing a $44 billion investment so easily.

Eventually, Twitter is still the platform to stay on. Some US news channels who tried to boycott them already came back to the platform. The people are still there. The money is still there. There is no single platform in the world capable of taking over Twitter. Twitter is going nowhere and people will simply adapt to a changing platform.

What, don't you trust us? *bats eyes*

Also what are you discussing in your DMs?

As a journalist, you should be aware of the value of encrypted and private communication and the dangers interception holds, financially, politically, physically, plenty of bad actors out there, big and small, official and unofficial, who would absolutely exploit this incredibly dodgy security gap. See a big company has a Mastodon server? Slip an admin $50 000, now you have access to everything, "private" direct conversations included.

Think of all the wonderful insider trading, blackmail, espionage, all the shenanigans you can pull off with a little bit of ingenuity on a platform so utterly broken.

These "alternate" platforms are lank dodgy and hugely opportunistic, Hive included.

It's like with Resetera, after Neogaf imploded on account of sexual abuse accusations etc against the owner, Resetera quickly formed, an amazing, hyper leftist independent media paradise where little bunnies farted rainbows etc.

Little while later, the Resetera owner sold it off to a faceless media group (that harvests user data / private conversations etc) for something like $10m cash and bailed, nobody else involved saw a cent. There are incredibly nasty people occupying the social media tech space.

You support and push Hive, you're just making that 23 year old Brazilian kid rich, who will then sell it to whoever entity bids the highest, who will then exploit lack of that platform's transparency to the maximum, for profit.

Musk also said they're coming clean with all prior manipulation done at Twitter, that should give some good insight into how absolutely rotten and dodgy these big tech social media platforms are.

Social media is wild west.

I'll just live on Reddit if Twitter bombs.
Tencent owns a chunk of reddit, and I think Naspers owns a chunk of Tencent, so it's a lovely little circle of local love. So next time someone tunes you kak on reddit tell them you'll phone oom Koos Bekker to boot them.
