Hi

I recieved a galaxy tab, when a family took out a contract on a smartphone with Vodacom. The thing is, after two months the 10" screen is really bothering me. I was wondering if I could get rid of it, by selling it. Would this be legal?

I highly doubt this. Legally, while under contract, the device is actually still the property of the services provider.

I know a lot of people does this and sell the units while under contract.

However, I do not think that MTN will charge you criminally if you are in arrears with your contract and you sold the device. I think they will nail you for the outstanding fees only. When the contract date expires, they will nail you for all the outstanding fees at that time.
