Hello, i did a search on this already and the only solution was to plug in the micro filter and use a "data/fax" modem to send the fax (56k).

It is a really long story but my ADSL line CANNOT DAIL OUT. plz read that CANNOT and it is not worth explaining it. So i CANT use a data fax modem or i DONT want to, even if I could.

as well, I have 24/7 connection to the net, so is there not a solution where I can get a fax program and fax data through that program. Obviously I don’t wanna pay a third party to send to my email etc.

Summery: fax with ADSL...Possible, How?

If you cant call out then its broken - obviously you've tried it with a micro-filter just as you would have to with a phone.

Any data to fax solution is going to cost someone money.

If your ADSL cannot dial out, it means it faulty so get Telkom to fix it since you are paying a monthly rental fee for the analog line over and above the ADSL rental.

If you don't want to use the analog part of you line for faxing, you can use you internet connection to fax by using something like email2fax, look at http://www.fax2email.co.za/what-is-email2fax.htm You are going to pay, seeing as you email you document to someone else and they make the call on your behalve. It's not that expensive though. The other part of the service (fax2email) is free.

sometimes the linesmen don't unlock the phone line.

This happens because new phone lines are created in a blocked state to prevent any paying outgoing call, this protect Telkom from claims by clients should somebody hijack the line and make calls on it before it's installed.

call 10210 and tell 'em you can't make outgoing calls, they'll probably pick up that's it's blocked...

on your question though there are plenty of email 2 fax services around, several of the SP's offer this but it's a payable ooptional extra!

Whats the point? He doesnt want to be able to make outgoing calls for some obscure reason.

what ever i am over it, i knew every1 would miss the point and go on about why it does not wanna phn out. I tried to make myself clear about it, but whatever.

anyone had experiance with 32bit fax?

btw thanks bwana, u seemd to be the only one who read the part about "i dont want to, even if i could", and oh ya i would phone them and tell them, but it would be pointless as I AM THE ONE WHO BLOCKED IT.

Do you want to know it's possible to send and recieve faxes through your adsl line without the use of normal phone line and modem. Something that goes through the internet or something, but isn't one of those fax to email services?

I don't think that something like that exists. This is how I understand fax: Your fax machine dials directly to another fax machine and then sends the fax. Kind of like you would dial a server with dial up to get internet. I don't think that it's possible to "break out" of the internet network without some sort of service. Sort of the same way you can't phone someone with voip without a 3rd party service.

Not sure if there are any free services of the sort either.

Hope I understood what you meant!
