Ok i have setup a SuSE Linux Enteprise Server 8 (SLES8) at work (lets call place of work ACME). Now what i know about Linux and Networks is dangerous.
I have a web feedback form that uses some script i copied from the web and it works perfectly, it sends the web fedback to any *@ACME.co.za without any problems
What i want to know is this :-
How does the server know how to send mail to qDot@ACME.co.za ? I mean i did not specify and MTA (whatever that is)
I ask because i have replicated the server setup at home and the a similar webfeedback form cannot reach my gmail account. The server at work can't reach external addresses either.
I noticed this when i tried to install drupal and joomla at home, the registration password never reaches gmail or any other external address.
