Yeah - I've personally told a number of people to stay away from sentech mywireless. Have told them to either wait (may take a while) or go for ISDN/ADSL.

Would be interesting to see how many potential customers Sentech have lost by us recommending that the wait or go for another service.

Strange thing is that in the beginning I recommended sentech to a number of people (Back in the early days when the service worked well). I am now careful not to walk down any dark alleys :) Think they want revenge

I put the number of lost customers easily in the thousands. A large number of the early adopters work in the IT industry and are the people others ask for advice when it comes to internet connectivity.

Word of mouth is the best advertising but Sentech decided to drop the ball, trip over it, then stuff it down the customer's throat [;)]

It's how my Wife and I built up our business. It takes time, but those customers are the most loyal customers and they tell all their friends and so on and so on.
Nothing beats word of mouth.

well, they have lost me too. For months I struggled with their slow speeds and useless international download times, till exasperated, I instructed them to terminate my contract on the basis of the one and only clause in the Standerd terms and conditions available to their customers. Clause 11.5,2 states that if their service is reduced for a period exceeding 60 days the agreement shall termnate.
Needless to say, the number of people I have turned away from Sentech over the past 4 months is staggering.
Why is South Africa held in the grips of these monopolies? Sentechs standerd terms and conditions are abominable, yet in desperation for a better service than telkom most of us signed up... quitw insane...

and BTTB, am I right when I say that you listen and SERVE your customers, and not just sell them a product?

I assume my assumption is right, otherwise you'd be making a loss...

Oh most definitely.

I get compliments on a daily basis about our service, products and affordable prices.
Today I personally served a couple that drove 60km past at least 10 similar businesses like mine to purchase my products. They filled their car and trailer and tomorrow they are coming back again for a repeat order.
And you know what, if a customers wants to email me or phone me they can, without any fuss. My phone number is posted on my website and listed in the Telephone directory. No fancy answering service or bull**** talk of excellent service. Simple straight and truthful answers at all times.

Yup nothing like a live demonstration of Sucktech's superior performance to 60 people in my company over lunchtime.
Exhibit one - Dial up 56k modem
Exhibit two - Sucktech 128

Didn't have to say a word - just let them play.

Comments - 'Did you actually pay for this???!', ' Well I think I'd rather put up the extra money for ADSL', 'Serves you right for being so keen on new tech', 'I was going to get this for my son but not anymore', 'I'd rather wait for new players in the market', .....

Guess what Sucktech - 60 more people who will never buy your product no matter how much you advertise. All those millions thrown at an advertising campaign - totally wasted.

And why did I do it - Because Sucktech has consistently refused to communicate with its customers about its problems and has propogated nothing but lies and untruths.

I'm really sorry 'cause I know of people who have put their livelihoods on the line to sell this crap. Sucktech has also sold its agents lies and B$@#t and now they are looking for their old jobs back.

PS: I guess I should have known from day one when I realised that the Sucktech website didn't render properly on anything but IE! Any amateur website designer with a decent knowledge of CSS and XHTMl could have built a better site.

We have lost several clients due to the utter crap we have been getting from Sentech. I can't believe that these people are still in business. It is my mission to get them out.
