Yep, but then so did the first season of True Detective.

So Season 1 had you interested but Season 2 not? How far into Season 2 are you? You should persist with it! Although, with all the hype you've probably been subjected to, your expectations might not be met. That's always the risk when arriving late to the party...

Well I'm running out of anything half decent to watch and waiting for subs for my Nordic lot so I may just have to give it another go. :)

Snap. I also gave up on BB after half of season 2 and I also gave up on True Detective after 2 episodes of season 2 (S01 was just out of this world, loved it)

Persisted with TWD though but probably because I've read the comics and was a fan already. But yeah, it also has some dull as dishwater episodes.

Oh, and I started Boardwalk empire last night and the hooks were in from episode 1. This is going to be epic, I can feel it in my water.

Great..only 58 episodes to find, evaluate, convert. ;)

The only other hyped-up biggie I haven't done is The Sopranos but that's because the missus doesn't do mobster telly.

I grabbed all 5 seasons a week or 3 ago on KAT. Still plenty of seeds about.

Season 2 is a little slow, but I never found it difficult viewing. I'll reiterate, the series grows in stature all the way through to the point where you got millions of fans world wide lamenting the producers decision to can it at 5 seasons.

Will advise you to persist with BB. Boardwalk Empire is frigging awesome! That's another series that keeps finding more!

She won't do Boardwalk Empire then either. It covers all the legends of the mod underworld of the early 20th century...

Missing out though, cause Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, would be on most folks top 10 of all time list...

Me too! I'm on episode 9 now. Steve Buscemi did a pretty good job in this role. How did I miss this superb series?

Started Fargo Season 2 as well.

Jirre! How do they manage to pull off that 70s 'feel' and look? Jeffrey Donovan . . . last time I saw him was in Burn Notice and some movie I can't recall.

I must admit, series like Breaking Bad, Walking Dead , Boardwalk Empire , True Detective are all pretty slow , almost introspective alot of the time (you know, it feels like the characters are staring alot, thinking alot, looking into the distance alot, getting way to philosophical every 2nd conversation ) . Breaking Bad also did not work for me at all when i initially tried it, S1+S2 felt like a slog and i stopped.

I then got back to it much later because i wanted a series where things were somewhat slow because i was doing alot of late night work/projects ..and for some reason it got me hooked that way. S3+ they definitely had this thing where every episode would end on a cliff hanger (despite the actual episode only moving along at a snail pace). Eventually it felt like there was way too much happening in the last 2 seasons, which was strange.

Same thing with the Walking Dead, i still haven't gotten into it, but i can see the draw based on my experiences with Breaking Bad. I think you really need to be in a situation or a specific mood for these types of series. I sometimes think these series work well for people that are distracted alot (work/kids/ipads), and you can miss a few minutes in every episode and still know pretty well what is going on, even the recap aka "previously on..." in these series is like 1 minute long and is all you need quite often...especially if you know the characters.

This is why True Detective Season 2 was a total disaster for me....it is a slow series, yet somehow they sneaked in so many plot holes in between all the philosophical conversation that i never knew WTF was going on. I just did not have the patience and concentration levels to watch the season in that way....that's when i rather then just watch a more "down to earth" type of series which gets to the point.

Speaking of another series on this list, if you haven't tried "Better Call Saul" , then get it. It's a type of prequel to Breaking Bad. Season 2 should be coming out anytime now. I think it's a bit less moodier than Breaking Bad, so might even be a good start if you struggle with BB.

I loved BB and can't stand Walking Dead (anymore). The first few seasons of Walking Dead were ok - some cool episodes, but it reached a point where I just didn't care about the characters and their trivial wandering. Got boring. BB always seemed to move forward, even though certain episodes were real slow burners. I can't seem to get into season 2 of True Detective.

Oh my goody yes please wow woohoo! Looking forward to seeing what Netflix involvement bring to the show.
“It’s all very exciting — a whole new bunch of Black Mirror episodes on the most fitting platform imaginable. Netflix connects us with a global audience so that we can create bigger, stranger, more international and diverse stories than before, whilst maintaining that ‘Black Mirror’ feel. I just hope none of these new story ideas come true.”
Similar to the first season of the sci-fi series, the 12 new episodes will continue the format where each episode revolves around a different story and characters while commenting on people’s relationship to technology and how it alters their relationship with one another. The Netflix series has been quietly coming together, but now we have learned more of what to expect from one particular episode.

Black Mirror: A White Christmas remains one of my favourite surprises on tv. Almost time for a re-watch :).

I can't even tempt her to watch The Godfather Trilogy.
