When you tell the story of Queen Elizabeth, you can't consider something as pedestrian as a budget. Netflix shelled out a whopping $156 million to make The Crown, the company's most expensive show to date.
And it looks like all that cash was worth it. Netflix just released a first look at the new series, and it looks juicy, addictive, and highbrow all at the same time. Think Scandal meets House of Cards, with lots of gorgeous sets, accents, and costumes to drool over
Hugh Laurie is headed to Hulu.
The streaming company has given a two-season order to Chance, a drama starring the House alum, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Based on the novel of the same from Kem Nunn, Chance is described as a psychological thriller. Once again, Laurie will play a doctor, more specifically a forensic neuropsychiatrist who reluctantly gets sucked into a violent and dangerous world of mistaken identity, police corruption and mental illness. As he gets in over his head following an ill-advised decision involving a patient possibly suffering from multiple personality disorder, Laurie's character, Eldon Chance, begins his descent into San Francisco's shadowy underbelly while navigating a divorce and raising his teenage daughter. His exploration leads him to a deeper examination of the human mind.
Hulu has ordered two seasons of Chance for a total of 20 episodes. The series is slated to premiere this year.
Nunn will exec produce with Michael London, Brian Grazer, Laurie and Lenny Abrahamson (Room), who will also direct several episodes. Alexandra Cunningham (Desperate Housewives) will also exec produce and serve as showrunner. The series hails from Fox 21 Television Studios.
This marks Laurie's first series starring role since House ended in 2012 after eight seasons. He recurs on HBO's Veep and next appears in AMC's mini The Night Manager.
For Hulu, the series order comes at the beginning of a big year. The streaming company just received its first Golden Globe nomination and is getting ready to unveil high-profile series 11.22.63 and The Path, among others, this year.
Person of Interest - I think I gave up somewhere in season 3, just didn't feel it was going anywhere.
Now I'm seeing a lot of love for the show from comments here - did it get a life somehow ?
Is there a new "It's Always Sunny..." episode out? The only site I can get to from work doesn't have it but does have Modern Family s07e10.
