I couldn't get through 5 minutes. With so many great show available why would you torture yourself so?

I'm considering getting into the whole Star Trek thing. I've googled a little and wondering about Star Trek: The Original Series. Anyone else watching or watched this? I only remember fragments of it growing up. Other's suggested picking up from Star Trek: The Next Generation. A bit confused as to where to start with it all. Your suggestions please guys?

It's camp but enjoyable, to me.
