a gut wrenching and heartbreaking story

Will avoid like the plague ;)

I just don't get why anyone watches shows like this.

Chasing Life -
April Carver, whose world has just started to look up, is diagnosed with leukemia. With the support of her family and best friend, she might just be able to fight it.

Recovery Road -
Centers on Maddie, a party girl and a highly functioning addict who makes the difficult decision to live with other recovering addicts at a rehab facility, while facing the daily pressures of her teenage life.

This is us -
A heartwarming and emotional story about a unique set of triplets, their struggles, and their wonderful parents.

At the end of a long day the last thing I want is trauma and heartbreak.

Good guys killing bad guys, stupid camping teenagers meeting the slasher of the month or G.O.T where nothing is real and no emotions are invested - all good for the psyche.

But that's just me.

Sheesh, still trying to finish off "The Terror" and the Expanse and all of Bosch drop, my queue is getting longer these days.

^ cos it can be quality television?

Do you not watch "sad" movies, either?

no thanks, movies and series are for feeling good... i don't want to be crying at the end... or be taken on some guilt trip (12 years a slave) <- didn't watch it, but saw that's what some people felt like

Yup, gave that a miss, couldn't even watch Breaking Bad because the dude was dying from lung cancer.

So no True Detective (S01), Fargo or basically any drama? Game of Thrones? Altered Carbon? Not really sure what you mean by 'feeling good'. You surely watch and read a lot of things you enjoy but don't necessarily leave you 'feeling good'?

Not sure why someone would feel guilt tripped after watching 12 Years a Slave. It's not like any of us ever kept slaves. Unless you'd rather just not be reminded that such things happened.

I don't like watching bad things happen to good people - unless there is excruciatingly painful justice for the villains.
