Bizarre show.

All the scenes featuring the generic tough female of colour and the male lead are dire. Hammed up acting, really poor writing, hilarious attempts at chemistry and power dynamics and this cheap glossy feel, like those ludicrous CIS shows or that legal one which produced Megan.

Meanwhile, the scenes involving the alleged killer and Kinnear are great. There is weight and gravitas. That uneasy sense of foreboding keeps me guessing like all great murder mysteries.

Its as though there are two completely separate sets of writers and production.

I'd say give it a go if only for the serial killer bits. We all like different things.

I've The Terminal List and The Responder to get through over the next weeks. The former also requires fast forwarding through schmaltzy bits which add nothing to the story and the latter is genuinely good and engaging. I'll return to Black Bird to see how they resolve the story.

Is there any Resident Evil thing worth watching after the first movie? It was no award winner but was fun enough to actually enjoy. Everything since then has felt like a big miss.
