Which British shows have you watched? As with any television industry they range from godawful to brilliant...

tbh i've watched the old sitcoms and enjoyed them. the dramatic ones i don't like. can't even remember their names. their was that long running police drama with a chick in it. couldn't stand that.

Watched Sherlock? Luther? Both excellent.

Lots of positive vibe coming in for American Horror Story.

Thanks guys, I'm sold.

I tried the first season and it didn't really do anything for me. But definitely give it a shot, I think.

Sherlock is great.
Unless you're like my wife that won't watch anything that isn't American.

no i haven't, and don't think i will. just not my cup of coffee. but if i ever decide to give it a go... i'll take those ones into consideration.

I think give Sherlock a chance, really. I think I understand your aversion to British shows, but Sherlock is different. Very high production quality.

Except for maybe Modern Family which has really dropped in quality, and the first and last, which I haven't seen, that's some good taste :) Rectify was brilliant.

Hmm I don't think Modern Family has dropped in quality, I just think it hasn't changed enough, its getting a bit samey but I still enjoy it, the lack of a laugh track is a big plus for me.

Haven't seen rectify before.

Just a warning: It's not for everybody. The pacing is slow, it's extremely character driven and not much "action" as it were. If you can't handle Mad Men, don't even attempt Rectify imo.

Dropped in quality big time for me since S2. As for the laugh track, it depends. Ground Floor is doing extremely good work despite there being a laugh track, other shows without a laugh track (like Modern Family imo) are suffering a bit.
