I was installing a new mywirless modem at a clinet today, and will upgrading the firware on it I noticed that I had used my own account details for the setup, and it worked, strange you might ask ? well my modem at the office was running at the same time.

Some testing and here's the result.

You can login with your modem with one user account while somebody else does the same as long as they are on a diffrent tower, so basicaly everyone in diffrent areas could share 1 512k account.

Now this may be why there is not enough bandwidth ! as we may have multiple people login into the system with 512k connections that they are sharing with mates that only have 128k connections.

Sentech Please note this, and please FIX !

That could justify them saying 1 user could pull more than 100 gig in one month....

Hell, my gran on a scooter with a memory stick is faster than Sentech's MyWireless!

Dean, this would be funny if it wasn't so sad!

BTW: next time you find out something like this, a private email to me will suffice (no need to make it public [;)]). D@mn Sensucks will probably fix it now!

Fix it? Sentech couldn't find their arse with both hands. I will be very suprised if they can work out how to fix this in the near future.

Finally someone has spilled the beans...
Is that why there are only 1800 paying customers left....
with well over 3000 modems in circulation? [:D]

Sentech is going to have to resort to issuing SIM cards
if they are ever going to plug the gaps in their
backoffice system.

Since the modems do have a slot for a SIM card .. I would gladly pay for that card

Well, after 4 months of constant disconnects and pathetic speeds
(not to mention the Help Desk...and Marcel Raath)
I would suggest that Sentech do away with the 128 / 256 / 512 package
and rather sell a SIM card solution.
They can call it <font size="2">"PRAY-AS-YOU-GO"</font id="size2">[:)]

kickass72za, just wait... the best is still to come!
This from a technical source in the Cell Equipment Industry:
Sentech's currently installed 3G system simply won't work
as a quality 3G voice system.
The issue is not related to poor latency, but rather that the
latency is sooooo inconsistant ... it won't even be able to compete
with existing GSM ... let alone a REAL 3G system.
WATCH THIS SPACE.... because if the problem cannot be resolved
with firmware (so far it cannot), Sentech has purchased a
3G White Elephant! (Unless they have plans to purchase another 3G voice based network?)

LMAOROTF.................

hey i am sure they will get some bank to loan them another R800 million....... the government will probably underwrite the loan anyway...

Probably they purchase was made by a Marketing person who told a techie to install it.....

On second thoughts isn't that how most software/hardware is purchased by companies in this country!!!!!!!!

Borris send me a box............. by mail so that iget it!!!!!!!

If this wasn't so tragic, I could laugh.
Seriously, I don't think people realise how badly this company
is run by it's top strategic and marketing executives.
They are fast becomming a total laughing stock.

By 2006 (and about 1.5 Billion rands later) they plan to have 400 towers
up and running. But at the current rate they won't have the necessary volume of customers.
The government (read YOU the tax payers) are going to land up paying for all of this!

The sooner Sentech can hive off the ISP and Marketing components
of MW and focus ONLY on the core transmission network the better
for everyone. The longer they kid themselves that they can sort out
this mess, and run this as an effective business, the higher the risk
that it will collapse altogether.

*sigh* Don't we always end up footing the bill in some way or another? Look at Telkom, we paid taxes to the govt, who built telkom up with that money, now as a parastatal they are milking us - the people who built them.

I really think this country is ready for a more liberal government.

As badly as i want this service to work, there is a small part of me that wants it to fail, So that hopefully all those who try something similar in the future will not make the same mistakes.

Ki<s>ss</s>ckAss72: It's almost ready. Buttered or salted???

ummmmmmmmmm make it both...........

The problem with this tragedy is that the people that are controlling the future,(in my opinion) are only worried about their own ambitions and not the success of the TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION.

If they had declared at the start that they had problems, none of us would be as angry as we are currently, but THEY DIDN'T. If this was setup and run by a NON GOVERNMENTAL AKA Private company, we would be in a totally different situation.

Message to all Governments............. run countries, and stay out of technology!!!!! unless you are going to ADD value to your citizens.

Well in Sentechs case they have failed miserably with MyWireless.
But not to worry they just get another handshake from government with the granting of a Cell Phone Licence.
IMO in the real world they should have folded like the rest of the businesses that can't make it in the true open market sense and leave business to business people.

Hey, I'm not complaining, at the end of the day, more competitors =&gt; More choices for me and the rest of the consumers, may government give all its friends licenses, 1 of them will have to get it right at some point!

Judging by the ministers latest announcements, choice will not be an foreign concept to us anymore come next year!

Sorry, arf9999, but why the hell should this be kept a secret?

Is the CUG running out of little inside half-secrets from Sentech, that you folks need some more? It would be far better if everyone knew the situation, even if the knowledge is temporarily abused as then at least we know what we're dealing with and Sentech might be motivated to fix it, instead of us all sitting in the dark while the CUG hints conspiratorially at their "inside information".

Frankly, I don't think the senior CUG members can be trusted with this type of "secret" information anymore, as clearly they do nothing about it either way, and simply use the knowledge to nudge nudge wink wink each other and drop hints about what amazing information the inner circle is privy to. This not about your delicate egos, it is about fixing the network for everyone, and if that isn't your sincere goal then go play somewhere else.

Please, if you find a flaw in Sentech's network, shout it out loud from the rooftops. Keeping these things secret does NOTHING to improve the situation. Seriously question the motives of anyone who wants you to shut up and not disseminate information about Sentech's fsckups.
