Ok, anyone please advise me on this? I was searching WantItAll and found this:

It's a:

Tivax STB-T8 Digital to Analog TV Converter Box

It says:

Receive free on air high definition tv broadcast

Is that the same as free to air?

It also says:

electronic program guide and program information

Like the DStv one?

Will it work in SA?
If not, then surely can't be a feature...

DTT will have EPG so there are no issues there. Just remember the current DTT signal is a test one and once it goes live it will be encrypted.

The STB you get will have be able to decrypt the signal and from what I know the encryption is going to be propriety to the STB.

That one will be a ATSC tuner,US standard.We will use dvb-t.It won't work here.

The thing is that the Government wants to also create and industry out of this, so the more closed they make the market the more jobs are created (and less choice we have).

That's the rocket science based theory behind it all.
