Well, there are many ways to change the sources. And I see that you chose the easiest way. Did you update (reload) the lists after you changed the source.
However you can follow the following steps if you want to change to local:
1. Open the terminal and copy and paste in the following:
Code:
sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
It will then ask you your password, which is normal, to access the sources file.
After you input your password, gedit ("notepad") will open with the list.
Then can you maybe copy and paste the list here in a reply inside the CODE brackets.
2. However, if you are daring, then you can overwrite your sources list with the following:
Code:
#deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 10.04 LTS _Lucid Lynx_ - Release i386 (20100429)]/ lucid main restricted
# See http://help.ubuntu.com/community/UpgradeNotes for how to upgrade to
# newer versions of the distribution.
deb http://za.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid main restricted
deb-src http://za.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid main restricted

After you overwrite it, just save it and close gedit.
3. Then type in the terminal the following:
Please note: I am not using ubuntu at the moment, however this can mess up your sources (highly unlikely). Also make a backup of your sources.list.
Worst that can happen: Well nothing really, it just won't connect.
