Great story, but sure exposes the deficiencies in the law enforcement agencies and their resources which we pay for.

Inept heist gang show how not to do it

Police borrowed a security company's armoured van to chase down a gang of inept robbers who accidentally locked themselves in a stolen cash-in-transit vehicle after a freeway shootout on Sunday.

Police and armed guards from the Protea Coin Group, using an armoured vehicle and a helicopter belonging to the security company, cornered the robbers after a shootout while they were trying to flee from the Coin base in Edenvale onto the nearby N3 highway.

All seven robbers were arrested. One was injured in the shooting. [would prefer it if they were shot in the head]

National SAPS spokesperson Captain Dennis Adriao said police received a tipoff about the impending robbery at about 3pm on Sunday, and the National Intervention Unit headed for the base in Long Meadow, Edenvale.
