You must have noticed by now that England are terrible.

Aus have only played Zim once in Zim, and players like McGrath and Warne missed tours to Sri Lanka/Pak.

They haven't played to many against Zim either.
Ponting is probably the only one who played a once off test there.

Hmmm, I did a search for Tests he'd played in in SA and it only came up with SA victories.

Have you seen ABdV's average over the last two years? And Chanderpaul's.

Yup Chanderpaul's averaged over 100 again. Not bad.

AB's done pretty well, seems to score at least one 100 in every series.
But then all our batsmen other than Kallis have done well.
And Kallis got a 100 in his last game.:)

Was quite surprised to see that Ponting has only played 1 test in Pakistan.

Ponting also only has an average of 20.85 in India.

I'd like Kallis to finish with a higher average than Ponting, currently 54.66 for the former, and 56.20 for the latter. Ponting seems on the decline, and is a year older, though Kallis may need to throw in the bowling if he's to continue much longer.

Ponting is a better batsman inmo, but Kallis being a all rounder makes him exceptional

Ponting is probably a marginally better batsman, but Kallis the better overall player, given his bowling. Both great fielders too.

Do you think AB has what it takes to be "the best batsman in the world" - his stated ambition.

He's 25. He's got the skills, but had a bad couple of years in 06/07 when he averaged 27. Needs to start climbing that average towards 50, currently on 43.

I do, he has all the talent in the world, he just needs

I am sure now that he has also settled in a position at nr 4 or even at 5 he will keep upping his avrg.

The way he has been playing in the last couple of months has shown that he has the talent and he is shaping up to also have the temperament.
