No...
But they are a utility providing the grid to you.
You probably need BEE points to become a supplier, and you would have to be registered with ICASA and get a license. They do it for reasons on ADMIN not economics.

You cannot be a trading generator of electricity in SA unless you are eskom... Its the law.
I rest my case.

Great! Glad to hear you'll stop moaning about not being able to do something that you either:
A. Can do - sell power back to coct
B. Cant do because it's uneconomic for them - the hassle of efting you R100 is too annoying a burden for them - given other national legislation, opportunity for abuse etc..

Let me say this, he goes, and we're fcucked. We got to this point after 27 years of looting, corruption, utter incompetence and a whole host of other things.

Who the fcuck are they going to put in his place? Oh, yes how can I be SO stupid! Of course, one of their 'buddy' appointments who have no clue how to switch a light on, let alone generating it!

All I can say is, if you thought that the current Load Shedding is bad now MAN you have seen nothing yet should that happen...

Do you think it is just racist people asking him to step down?

Racist people want him to stay.

The same people praising him for his lack luster work, are the same people who would be calling for him to resign by now if he wasnt white.

I'm not so sure but if you want to sell electricity to an entity (and there are independent "REIPPs" in SA who sell to specific companies or municipalities) you have to comply with environmental legislation (big challenge), get a generation licence from NERSA then satisfy the Eskom requirements to connect into the grid (except for some municipalities where they own the grid). Wheeling charges have to be established to use the grid. Eskom cannot refuse you but, on the (quite small) projects I knew about or was involved in, they are ridiculously obstructive (wanting to cling to their monopoly).

Are people aware, that under Andre`s watch, we have had multiple areas all over the country simply refuse to loadshed. Ranging from small cities to large ones like Cape Town.

This results in the areas that do load shed, having to load shed more to compensate.

So if you think for whatever reason, Andre has been doing a good job, its most likely because you live in an area that isnt complying, and thus have a skewed idea of him.

What does ICASA have to do with this?

This was discussed live just the other day. Areas are halving their own load shed schedules, or not doing them at all.

Sure, you getting load shedded on schedule, the schedule set by your city etc.
CT gets load shedded 3x less than JHB.

You are insulting most of the sentiments posted here on the various threads. People are really not that short sighted.

Am i meant to care about racists feelings ? Sorry, i dont.

We have entities simply not load shedding or reducing their own schedules massively. This never happened to this insane degree before the current clown CEO.

Get someone from overseas to run Eskom, because no local "CEO" will be able to pull it off. This is a critical matter that needs skill, not incompetence, which is the motto of South African CEOs.

I have no words. Clearly you have your own misguided opinion.

Nobody will with the political interference.

Gordan and Cyril still call the shots.

So people want another CEO for Eskom? Again?

Even when this guy is making progress?

I suppose this new CEO will simply airdrop new coal-fired power plants all over the country, hmm? Maybe reduce the price of electricity to 50c per KW/h? All while killing loadshedding and turning a massive profit? And then a nuclear power station will show up magically over night just outside Soweto to give the residents free power?

Sounds like an ANC fever dream.
