Sex threads in HWLR

What's with all the sex-related threads in HWLR lately?

I think the level of detail that's being gone into is inappropriate for this forum, especially for those of us who access it from work.

I've reported at least one thread, but nothing seems to have happened... don't know if the mods are busy or if they disagree with me.

The threads are clear of any wrong doing. Medical terms use where possible. I fail to see how that could be offending to anyone. My heading on my thread maybe, but there was no other word for it I know of. If that is the problem I'll request it to be changed.

The thread is in good spirit and not Porny or sexist in anyway. It's constructive.

But that is my opinion

Normally I'd shoot you down for being a touchy prude, as has happened in the past. But I have to agree here. HWLR has become a haven for threads which previously would not have been tolerated in OT.

I think it lowers the tone of the whole forum and site to be honest.

I have requested my heading to be changed.

Hope it helps, but don't kill the thread rather stay out of it if it bothers you. There is nothing wrong with that thread. It's great advice everyone could learn from/

Oprah had a vibrator on her show this week. She did a whole show on sexual health. Did you watch that episode?

Its interesting where we can talk about murder and killing, and we can even play computer games that simulate killing.. but anything sexual... and its taboo. Messed up morality that.

Yeah, I got roasted for using euphemisms for the lady bits, now there's whole threads about what to do with said lady bits.

+1

It's straight up adult talk without the sleeze. There is nothing wrong in that thread. I personally think people need to open more to their sexuality than shoot down such topics. It's a very clean thread, maybe go read it first. Don't judge a book by it's cover.

The forum dictates that you must be at least 18 years old to join for a reason.

If such talk offends you, you're in the wrong place. Simple as that.

I just didn't think that was the aim of this forum. But hey, if there is a sports section, I guess that does not have much to do with broadband and the fight against Telkom, and you don;t see me whining for that to be removed. C'est la vie I guess...:)

No, I'm not in the wrong place. No, I'm not a prude.

I think it's inappropriate for the forum. You're welcome to disagree, and the mods are welcome to evaluate the threads, decide I'm wrong, and leave them as they are.

But I'm free to say that while Pitbull's thread (as just one example) isn't porny or sexist, it is very explicit and just isn't appropriate.

And yes, I would just ignore the threads, but it's difficult when most of the threads on the first are sex-related, have sex-related topics, and I'm reading the forum at work. If we could "ignore" threads the way we could "ignore" users, there'd be less reason for complaint.

Good post Wizard.

How often do i have to freakin read about a family brutally flippin murdered or how many people died in frippin Gaza.

For Goodness sake if you have issues with some sexual posts please stop flippin reading that section.

These complaints are getting beyond annoying now. I have actually withheld how i feel but seriously if you cannot handle hearing anything sexual do not click on threads that look like they may contain sexual things.

First its derogatory towards women, no jokes can be made in case it offends people.
now its to sexual

WTF is next? To much talk about make-up, relationship talk going to be targeted next?

Wow the level that some people will go to because they don't like something. The biggest joke i have heard all year is that cath is not a prude. Maybe do some work instead of complaining about threads.

I agree with you CathJ.

I think get rid of them.

There are other foums where one can discuss these things to your hearts content.

No it does not because the large majority of people who post in there are always posting in there, most of the posts come from people who live in that section of the forum because its best, most interesting and the most humorous section on this site :).

I doubt people care what threads are made because this website is for over 18's and some people forget they do not actually need to click on or read anything they feel uncomfortable with.

There is no gun to anyone's head forcing them to read any threads.

Pooky, sorry I can't cater for your needs and help you find pleasure. You will have to find that advice somewhere else.

Honestly I can't see nothing wrong with it apart from giving great advice. If giving honest clear and good advice is wrong in a forum setup then sure get rid of it. But that opens a whole new door of other problems.

If it was aimed and a said group and derogatory then yes, but it's far from it. There is decent woman taking part in that thread and discussing the topic. If it was only men posting there I would also agree 100% but that is not the case.

Killa... I'm not a prude. I believe there's a time and a place. I believe that using the word "rape" to describe being ripped off by a company is wrong, when there are so many traumatic connotations to the word. I believe that a tend towards dehumanising women through derogatory jokes should be challenged. And yes, I believe that the explicity sexual threads that have been posted today do not belong on this forum.

And you know what? I'm entitled to think that, just as you're entitled to think the opposite. But don't you dare think of judging me. In fact, if we're going to get personal, I have to say that judging by a lot of your posts, I'm rather glad you don't approve of me, because I don't want to be the kind of person that you are.

And yes, if this is what the forum is turning into, maybe it is time to leave. Pity, because it's a nice place with some nice people, and we've had some nice chats - but when a nice coffee shop turns into a venue for an orgy, it might well be time to leave.
