What people don't seem to realise is that none of the SGS admins are Telkom employees.

Pawel Dabrowski AKA Elyzium is the head SGS admin and an employee of Telkom SAIX.

Least I forget that yourself (Vie) and Elyzium went on a sad attempted head hunt after me due to my postings on *this forum* (I have never utterd a word about Telkom on SGS forums). Requesting that I be banned from all SGS game services, without warning and reason.

SGS is not a free gaming service, its a market hook that attracts alot of gamers to areas where peering to SAIX is most efficient (namely... SAIX since they have terminated peer with IS and UUnet). SGS is also quite honestly a simple way for a few people to feel they have some authority over the people that make use of said "free service" - and this is quite obvious in the way in which the entire administration of SGS conduct themselves

Now, please be considerate to the admins who give of their time to provide you at least with a better gaming environment,

How about you piss off, I've long since stopped being 'considerate' to you lot. For the most part your actions and draconian administration is nothing but harmfull to those who use your services.

Elyzium does work for Telkom SAIX, I won't dispute that. However, I bet you won't disagree with the fact that every other admin doesn't. I don't get paid to do this. Neither does Superjuice, and neither the rest of the admins.

What I think people need to realise is that without the gaming community, Telkom would not be making nearly as much money as they are. SGS is most certainly a revenue stream for Telkom.

I got my ADSL line purely for online gaming. After a few hours playing my favourite FPS I noticed that 400MB had been used.

Now, if Telkom are going to cap local traffic after 3GB of data usage, where does that leave us gamers who have supported Telkom for all of these years? Should we not be allowed to voice our disapproval on SGS? It seems we cannot and arent allowed to even though we have paid tens of thousands of rands over to Telkom.

It should be up to Telkom to make a post on SGS saying something to the effect of... "To all our fellow gamers, please note that any bandwidth used up on our gaming servers are unmetered and you can play as much as you want". I may be dreaming... but something like this is what I would like to see from Telkom seeing that I have supported SGS for over a year now.

if i can add my little 2 cents to this whole argument that has been clearly blown out of proportion.

SGS is there to give us gamers something to get ADSL or ISDN for, without SGS who would be organizing the servers we play on? Who would be organising the high-bandwidth connectivity?

Tell me of any other organized online bunch of guys who have taken the care to actually keep up with the international trend of online gaming and give us some fun to look forward too.

Its so normal to actually see everybody just notice the BAD points about any given service, even if its free that they throw out the GOOD points.

To all the Telkom bashers here, what CHOICE do you have? None. So rather use the service, be grumpy about it but thanks to TELKOM you can actually post your rants online.

Until we have a choice all this flapping in the wind is useless... no pun intended.

If the Telkom bigwigs start seeing SGS as a place of dissent, they will simply stomp on SGS with their big boots. That is what they have done to any other source of dissent inside Telkom and they will certainly do it again without second thoughts.

Posting stuff on the SGS forum is not going to change Telkom. It will just kill SGS. And I am going to stand next to Stoke at the door if you helped getting SGS killed by being stupid.
