The mods at the SGS forums aren't being unfair, they are just being careful. Most people would do the same in the situation. Sounds odd coming from me, but they are also people and even if they have links with a company like Telkom (who doesn't have to provide any gaming service at all to the public, never mind free of charge) they do still have a job to keep, and losing their job over a few people who attack their employer in a publicly accessible forum would be a bit silly.

The majority of gamers share the same sentiments and I have no doubt the mods hear it all the time.. Telkom's prices and policies are bloody terrible, but then again its not the mods at SGS's fault, they are just doing their job at providing a great gaming service to the public, once again - for free.

I have had my fair share of Telkom bashing on SGS and had words with the mods over certain issues but blinded by rage and frustration one fails to see the bigger picture. Vie and MaD many others in this thread are spot on. I fully understand there viewpoint and ruling on the SGS forum, I may not like it but it is actually for the benifit of all SA gamers out there.

The only reason these people are defending the actions of SGS is because they have been played into a corner where Elyzium has very often threatend to disconnect CS servers etc etc if people complained about *anything*.

It's not a way to behave. If you're going to run something and constantly threaten to remove it just to spite people then you shouldnt be doing so in the first place.

It's quite simple realy, the reason there are "no alternatives" is because due to peering structure people have moved to support SGS (no matter the amount of nonsense they put out) and this has lead to other gaming services reducing their service. Sorry, the "Don't bite the hand that feeds you" etc doesn't fly with me - especialy if the hand is feeding you cyanide.

How is MWeb Gamezone these days?

You also forget that SGS also has Filevault a very valuable service that provides local downloads. I have often seen in excess of 200gig's downloaded on a daily basis. Telkom could very easily remove this too and for what. So you can b!tch on a forum that is about gaming. Complaining is not discouraged and feel free to complain and boycott and protest about Ely, Vie, Superjuice and Telkom just not on their forum, do it here if you need to. Vie quoted it best, *Paraphrase* Don't come into my house under my roof and tell me you don't like my rules.

if i could ask the people who complain to please post a solution... its easy to complain but harder to resolve.

Just a simple question : What can you guys do to solve this problem or come up with a viable alternative to what SGS offers?

I am all ears to this....

If what SGS does is so bad...why do they have such a huge gaming community?

And dont come with that we have no alternative bull****. If your not happy with online gaming, play single player, organize a lan with your multitude of friends that you surely have...

No One is forcing you to go play on the servers.

If you look at their ratio of happy gamers vs. unhappy gamers, SGS is hosting an absolutely superb service. 3000+ happy game/forum members against maybe 50-100 unhappy ? thats a 5% unhappy customer base at worst, throwing in some odds and ends? And these unhappy customers are merely unhappy cause they caused trouble and got caught?

It is because kids/people get away with all kinds of **** these days, that people like you exist. You find one little issue and you whine about it till you are satisfied or bored. You are the modern old ladies. You are the Old woman bitching about Thundercats being satanic.

If not for SGS trying their best to keep whiners like you away from normal gamers, God help us all.

Why don't they open a forums section for complaints instead of oppressing and banning people as soon as they complain?

Who is they? SGS? Their regulations are bound to their whole forum. Why do you want to break their regulations?

Geez... complaining is the easiest thing to do in the world. Moan and moan but nobody will take you seriously until you offer a solution.

LaRoosta, why don't you complain about the service we offer not about who offers the service?

But thats the problem, we are not allowed to complain in fear of being insta-banned.

You're REALLY missing the point. You complained about Telkom being expensive, on the SGS forums. How are you complaining about our GAMING servers or anything relating to GAMING? You bitched about prices.

Let me spell it out to you: If you're unhappy about our gaming service, you're free to complain as that's actually something we can look into and affect changes to. If you complain about TELKOM and their related prices/products etc which we have NO POWER to change, you'll get banned.

What is so difficult to understand about that?

I don't believe that we have ever banned someone for complaining about an SGS service or server within the forums (read: NOT Telkom); we welcome constructive solutions to those problems. Any posts that had been deleted previously most probably, in some way or another, violated another rule on our forums; no doubt in the language used and/or extra defametory comments included. LaRoosTa, you're clutching at straws now..
The South African Internet eXchange (SAIX) is Telkom's answer to Internet access in Southern Africa. SAIX is a wholesale provider of raw connectivity to the Internet for Southern African Internet Service Providers (who sell value-added services on top of the SAIX service to dial-up subscribers and dedicated customers).
SGS is a part of SAIX is it not? I was complaining about ISP's charge that was going to be too expensive.

It is a
CONDITIONAL NOTICE OF TERMINATION OF TELKOMADSL SERVICE
Meaning: If the prices come into affect, I will not be able enjoy the luxury of SGS anymore.

Hi Vie,
I appreciate you taking the time to post here and I have a few questions of my own.

I play battlefield 2 amongst many other online games and have always appreciate the service that SGS provide. I know that the most of the admins work hard and are gamers first.

I played under two nicks on the SGS servers and have never been warned or banned. Recently i decided to play under the nick of =TelkomRocks= and belong to a reputable clan in the BF2 community. I am on the bf2 irc channel daily and people might know me from there.

The question i want to ask is why can I not register my nick on the SGS forums?
I have registered twice and in both instances I have been turned down with out any explanation emailed to my valid email adress.

I am currently registered under my old Wolfenstein ET nick bizkit, but want to use my current nick.

I do understand that there could be a valid reason for your admins to deny me access to your forums if maybe I registered with the nick TelkomSucks or HellkomRocks, but ask anyone on the battlefield servers I never make comments about Telkom be it positive or negative.

Lastly I would never put my clans name on the line by posting silly comments on your precious forum so my question WTF cant I use my current nick which everyone knows me by on the SgS forum

Cause the word Telkom, is probably prohibited in any Nick on the forums...

Use another nick, and stop moaning.

I just want to ask another question.

I understand that all the games (CS:S; CoD:UO; BF2 etc) have specific admins for those games (Thunda! being one for CoD:UO & Dave for BF2). Now these people I would think would never have a bias towards Telkom.

However, Elyzium is a Telkom employee and is one of the super-admins in that forum. What I would like to know is how you (vie) and Superjuice got appointed without knowing anyone at Telkom or having an affliation with Telkom?
