Hi guys. I just bought a billion wireless router / adsl modem in anticipation of my adsl line being installed. I've got my lan set up with my 2 pc's connected and my laptop on wireless. But I can't for the life of me figure out how to share my 56k connection over the lan like I did when my pc's were directly connected. Any help, much appreciated!

Make sure the new router is not giving DHCP IP addresses on a different subnet to the PCs. I think ICS will only work on the 192.168.0.x subnet. Configure ICS on the one desktop. Then manually set the other machine to use IP 192.168.0.50, SM 255.255.255.0, DG 192.168.0.1 and DNS 192.168.0.1. The laptop can be configure the same as above, but use IP 192.168.0.51.

You can also use the Windows XP ICS wizard to configure the host and clients.

Hey Franna, thanks a lot dude! I've got it working now.

One question tho, is there any way to increase the range of the router? Or make it more intensive? In certain rooms in my house I get very poor reception.

No, it's the normal 7202gr2 wireless adsl2+ router. What does that super one do?

I bought one of those for my dad up in uganda the other day, took it back the same day!

When I tested it, my notbook couldn't see it anymore as soon as I got about 5m down the passage

rasputyn, I think you might be right... The wireless networking is so damn unstable it's driving me crazy. Even sometimes when I'm in the same room with it.

I'm very sad :(

I've got the feeling it's just poor quality hardware :(

But I'll see if they have anything to say.

What I find really strange, when I'm downstairs with my laptop, and I "view available wireless networks" I can see my network, and it's got 4/5 bars so it's able to see it very well.

But most of the time I can't connect to it, it just times out. And when I do connect to it, as soon as I try and go to network neighbourhood and access the network, it tells me the wireless network is unavailable, it's incredibly annoying!

Is there any possible solution to this? Or should I just try and take the router back?

get a netgear dude, their adsl routers ROCK!!

I beg to differ, get a Linksys WRT54<model> & Linksys ADSL2MUE > Best Broadband Router & ADSL Modem + the firmware is FULLY GPU as in, you can mod it or download better software for it, turning it into a little computer.
