She who snoozes, loses - house

Delmas - The luxury home of the controversial "sleeping magistrate of Delmas", Raesetea Malahlela, has been sold by order of court.

Malahlela, who's facing disciplinary action after she allegedly fell asleep at the Bench during a court case, was way behind in her bond repayments.

Curious onlookers and court staff gathered around the notice board in the magistrate's court to get a peek at the auction notice.

Malahlela's three-bedroom, two-bathroom home in the luxury Birchwood walled estate, Boekenhout Street, Delmas, went under the hammer on Friday.

Bidding for the house, valued at about R600 000, closed within minutes and it was sold to an unnamed buyer for R464 000.

The High Court approved the sale-in-execution by Nedbank after Malahlela's bond repayment backlog had topped R74 000.

R18 000 phone bill

She has not made a single bond payment to Nedbank since the house was registered in her name, more than a year ago.

Besides her bond debt, Malahlela owed R6 000 on her municipal accounts, including property rates.

Beeld reported earlier that Malahlela apparently owed the Department of Justice more than R18 000 for private calls made from her office telephone.
Don't matter who you are if you don't pay your bond you will loose your house

Take note no matter who you are if you don't pay they will auction it.

Some of these stories just give me a warm fuzzy feeling. Some people out there are really just waisting everyone else's oxygen.

How do you buy a house and then not make one payment on it????

Good luck to her in getting any further credit at any respected financial institution after this fiasco...

haha. She just wanted her house and utilities on a silver platter, in the same manner she qualified for her job. If the man on the street thinks he is entitled without work or payment, why not her?

And this is a person entrusted with enforcing the law? Sickening.
