The Sheriff descended to one of the municipal buildings in Jeff Taylor Crescent, Stamfordhill, Durban and attached desktop computers, telephone lines and printers.

EThekwini Metro had a surprise visit from the Sheriff’s after the municipality failed to honour a R30-million payment to a service provider as per a high court order.

On Thursday the Sheriff descended on one of the municipal buildings in Jeff Taylor Crescent, Stamfordhill, Durban and attached desktop computers, telephone lines and printers.

How embarrassing. A private company essentially repossessing R43 million worth of things from the municipality.
Someone I know also said they saw around 14 eThekwini electricity department vehicles and a DSW rubbish truck being escorted by MetroPolice on the N3. Unsure if it's related, but I'd say so since this is essentially revenge by Pholobas against the municipality and specifically the electricity department as Pholobas, as far as I know, were awarded tenders for disconnecting illegal connections.

EDIT-

Thats the HQ for the Electricity Dept for Ethekwini Municipality.
Indeed.

The point isn't the amount but rather the equipment itself. The point is that the eThekwini electricity department was being run out of that building, and Pholobas specifically made sure to "repossess" phones and computers needed to do business. Pholobas was given tenders by municipality, specifically the electricity department, to disconnect illegal connections. I assume the person responsible for blacklisting them originated at that department.

No one can do anything at the building essentially crippling them for however long it's going to take municipality to replace that equipment.

Pholobas is essentially punishing the department by taking equipment rather than pure monetary. Did the municipality think that Pholobas just wouldn't repossess just because they failed to pay the amount?

I also saw pics of double cab bakkies being loaded on a flatbed.
A bunch of electricity department trucks were being escorted by Metro on the N3 this morning too. I assume it's connected to this.
