Yeah... they have no need to pay anything. These fckers released so much consumer data from other sources, there is nothing Checkers have on us that is not already out there.
 
Imagine if companies were held to account for this type of thing - perhaps we'd then see some action.
POPIA was supposed to address that. All we hear are crickets when these breaches occur. Nothing is ever done.
 
Agree. Laws are one thing. Enforcement is another.
POPIA isn't worth the paper they printed it on.
I mean FFS it's supposed to be in effect. Companies are getting nailed for not getting things in order. Yet marketing and retail companies are able to call and offer you another cell phone contract, or more insurance etc. Nothing protects you here.
I wonder if GDPR etc. would be as toothless! Probably not.
