Should I be able to connect to my network?

The company I work for set up a modem that accepts incoming calls to connect to the network.

I have used this before using my normal cellphone as a modem.

Playing arround with the connection settings I saw that there is a place where you can enter a number into the settings....so that got me thinking....

Would it be possible for me to create a connection to our company's modem using the 3G card?

And

How would the charges work then? (surely it will be a voice call that gets charged per unit time?)

As the 3G sim card can be used as a normal sim card in a cell-phone, by making the call using the software you are in fact dialling a number and will be billed for the cost of the call (unless you have a free minutes contract loaded on the number as well). Also, you are able to send sms's off the card as well and even receive phone calls.

So, to answer your question, yes it is possible to connect, but, you bill be charged for the call.

Maybe you would rather like to setup a VPN and then connect to your company network via the internet? That would be easier and would save you a lot of money. Of course it would also be faster...
