Well it's not really apparent you even need a new camera. What is it about the d5000 that is actually holding you back as a photographer?

Just to throw something else into the equation - have you looked at the D5100 ?

Same sensor and image quality as the D7000, and iso performance also the same.

4fps, which may be enough, depending on requirements.

AF, controls and weather sealing would be less than D7000, but the price is also a lot less.

Remember to look at the apertures.

I noticed quite a few people I chatted to (including myself only a year ago!) look at the focal alone. Your 50 1.4 is fantastic - the 18-55 and the 55-200 you can get 2.8 aperture ... which make a huge difference.

For example you get three current 50mm ... a 1.2 (R15,000), a 1.4 (R3,400) and 1.8 (R1,100)

Money ain't the issue. So if i do change i would go straight to the d7000

The 50mm 1.4f is so far my best investment in the photography field. I truly love that lens

Lol All, i am pretty clueless sometimes, so i just try all till i get the right shot
I haven't spent much time looking through Nikon viewfinders but surely all of the important stuff - aperture, shutterspeed, iso, etc - is available when you've got the camera up to your eye . . . where the camera does its best work :)

Perhaps a course or two would be a better 'investment'?

Guys, Woke up this morning and thinking what i should do, Bwana with all your help i still decided to go against it. I mean when u buy top end amongst this range, whether i will or not use the functions available, its still there. So maybe today i may not use them but the day will come. Also i will still go for a course and probably aim to get the best out of the camera.

So now, the help i need is where to get 1 with the 18-105mm lens kit at a good price. i usually shop at govan mani, but my mate is not in today. any other places u recommend in durban. don't like buying at that value online.

Just as long as you take the course. :)

And who cares that by the time you're ready to make full use of the D7000 there will probably be a D7100! :D
