hey can you guys i was wondering if i should wait for the next gen cards. i heard shyt about the next gen cards only coming out on the Q3 2007. my price range is about R3000 to R3500 so what must little old me do

Who the hell told you that? GeForce 8 is due out next month and Radeon 2K in November. That's Q3 2006 and Q4 2006.

subjectable, I would give these new cards about a month and look close at reviews, and then purchase around October/November

ya that would be the logical thing to do... well if there pricing is right i think i might be one of the first guys with a dx10 card, well the is if they don't suck donkey ass... you see my friends do pretty much no research when they going to upgrade. so most of them have wasted there funds on the 7900gtx's and shyt.hee hee

Either way. DX10 cards are going to be faster than DX9 cards in current and future games.

That is, even before DX10 you'll get better performance than you get out of a 7900GTX/X1950XTX...
The DX10 cards can only get faster while the DX9 cards will only get slower (at least in XP)

If you wait till 2nd generation you may wait a very long time.
Ie, between GF6 and GF7 was 14months!!!
And it may be the same again, but I'm not sure...

1st gfen cards don't usually suck eg.
GF256/DDr first DX7 cards Great
GF2 2nd gen DX7 cards: even better, but not cooler or smaller core
GF3: ONly DX8.0 card from NV =Great
GF4: Only DX8.1 card from NV =Great
GF-FX: Only bad card
GF6: First DX9.0c card (good!)
GF7800: second DX9.0c card even better
GF7900: Great!

SO from all their cards only FX sucked 1st gen, others were good to great.

With ATI it's even better.
first DX9 card in 2002 up until now they've all been superb!
