Or one of their bigger centres,
The more I deal with them, the more convinced I am that they are running a racket,
As for my experience with MTN, this is how it went. Nothing original to add as far as I have seen.
I purchased a laptop from MTN, it included 2GB of 3G. Obviously, the 3G didn't work for the first few months. After they managed to fix it, I used the 3G under the impression that there was a cap, one of the MTN staff let me think so after when I was trying to fix my 3G, which took hours of phone calls. I used some data, billed R 1,200, plus R 149 for the 3G 2GB contract (Which was supposed to be free with laptop) which I am still being billed for, and they are not billing the laptop, which they are going to want to get all the payments in a few months time. I have informed them of this many times, but they give the annoying customer reply's, and that BS behavior we have become used to from them, even though they didn't even bother to check that I will be under billed in the future, this is how apathetic they are to us.
Concerning their conduct concerning the 3G charges, I suspected they are doing it on purpose with malicious intent. They probably make most of their data money from fooling their customers to go outside their bundle. Today, I received another big bill because, even if the billing cycle starts at the 13th of the month, the data only kicks in a few days afterwards. In which the data I used on that day got charged outside the bundle rates. For those who don't get it, their systems are setup with the goal to exploit you and trick you into giving them more money, which they definitely didn't earn.
It deeply concerns me that we deal with these companies, get locked into a two year contract, and get thrown between Vodacom and MTN like garbage thinking that by changing between these providers, they have lost a sale and have done damage to them, because the fact is we haven't, it is probably at some level part of their con.
As for the CPA, they are ignoring it strait, some aspects of their terms and conditions are clearly violating it, but they have the resources to fight you or ignore you until you give up.
If you want to see what you got into, go look at the terms and conditions of MTN broadband. The terms are horrible, they even state they are not liable for any damages for things they are responsible for internally and they also state that service is only there when available. That contract is horrible, but many people agree to those terrible terms every day.
After checking the number of complaints on hellopeter, and everywhere else, a moderately sized picket should be doable. A picket for bad service will be extremely insulting if there is enough people, and becomes a semi-regular thing.
Anyway, any of you have any thoughts regarding this.
