Showmax buffering on Chromecast

Has anybody else experienced allot of buffering on ShowMax as of late? We've never had issues but the last three/four days have been terrible.

YouTube, Netflix and even Ororo works without issue.

Could be your line due to the Seacom issues.

Oh right... forgot about Seacom. Strange that other services aren't affected though.

I have 100mbps fibre and showmax still buffers every minute or so. Netflix UHD loads and plays with no more buffering in 3 seconds. Don't think the problem is on your side.

I swear the only thing keeping me on Showmax at the moment is Blue Bloods and Frasier. Once I binge-buffered through those I might cancel. But then, at one hour per Frasier episode I'll only be done by 2023 so maybe the issue is fixed by then

Same here! I did the whole uninstall/reinstall and hard reboot thing yesterday, but I still get buffering. Netflix and Youtube are not affected.

I have the same problem, what made it better was not playing on tablet I was using to control showmax casting from. I use a chromecast and cr@ppy android tablet.
Just trying to finish Parenthood. Then my sub expires on the 19th. Netflix and google play music are fine.

Yes, I also have a buffering issue with Showmax and Chromecast.

Contacted them through live chat. The guy cannot be certain whether or not it is Seacom nor can he determine from the logs what the issue is, but he can see the buffering happening. Asked if I can contact them again while it is happening so they can investigate...

Just watched showmax now no buffering, have finished Parenthood. Looks like it is prime time buffering only.

Watched an episode of Frasier last night without buffering. Makes me think it's a "prime time" issue (mentioned above). Too much load on servers maybe?

Maybe they switched to McAfee antivirus

Don't know if this thread is dead, but I have been struggling with ShowMax streaming to my Chromecast for the last month. The issue is buffering and frank desync between casting device and the chromecast. This happens if I try to cast from my Motorola Nexus 6, my Samsung Galaxy Note 3, my Chrome browser on my Windows 10 PC as well as from my Thosiba Chromebook 2. Also when I try to watch Showmax on my PC or Chromebook it buffers endlessly (never stops until I press on any point along the scroll bar). The pressing on the scroll bar is also the solution when I'm casting, because then the streaming resumes (at the point where I selected). IF I watch Showmax on either of my two android phones then I don't have any buffering issues. All my other streaming services works fine, even when casting from all the mentioned sources. I have a 20Mbps fibre line with Snowball as my ISP. Showmax is very unhelpful, with their only advice so far being "reset your router and chromcast". Both those solutions doesn't work. The service is thus so unusable that I'm considering terminating my subscription.
