Showmax Mobile price drops to R39 per month

Showmax has reduced the price of its mobile subscription plan to R39 per month in South Africa.

The new price reflects a 20% decrease on the previous monthly fee of R49, which has been the price since its launch in November 2019.

“We know that consumers are under pressure at the moment and we believe this change will be appreciated by our mobile customers," MultiChoice Group CEO for Connected Video, Yolisa Phahle said.

I only buy Showmax time when there is some promotion or bundle. Not worth the same as Netflix (content, app quality etc) so not sure why I would pay the same, and how they justify asking the same price as Netflix.

Maybe if they improve the quality of their apps. They might have great content but it is terrible to discover it..

I think they should at least provide coverage of SA national cricket and rugby maybe not at the cheapest package but normal one. I don’t buy the sport stuff as it’s costly vs what I watch.
