ShowMax Premium prices for SA revealed

Well I have seen a South African movie on US Netflix. Netflix does have some South African content, so in a way RSA is also making money out of Netflix. This was 2 years ago though.

The old American Ninja movies were shot in SA too.

When it comes to Netflix versus the "netflix-wannabe", Netflix wanted to be Netflix, it built and designed itself to be Netflix in every respect, from the technology model to the revenue model. Netflix has already proven itself against major players in truly open markets.

'On the udder hand Darren', our local "netflix-wannabe" was pushed, its hand was forced. At best, I expect a poor imitation from Naspers. Fully expect a highly diluted, confused offering from a parent company forced to put something together in the face of the looming Netflix arrival dilemma. An attempt at all costs to try cannibalize its own customer base before Netflix makes it bleed.

I know where my money is.

Nice entry level price to drive Vidi and a few other services out of business (and to hook in lots of base subscribers), then after a few years it will be up to R799 a month again! :D

^, remember who you are dealing with people. We do not forgive,we do not forget

True to form for MonoChoice!!!! Yet people keep supporting them, the same thing really as those that repeatedly vote ANC yet complain the ANC is ruining the country!

Band of Brothers, Deadwood, Luther and Boardwalk Empire are schit? News to me.

Lol who cares? You guys keep on comparing international products to local products. I personally love DSTV from time to time when I have access to it, I bet this service will be cool also. It is not really fair to compare a product thousands of miles away in a first world country with a product from a third world country. Especially a product that you are not suppose to have access to in the first place. Yes I also had a Netflix account and yes if my area ever gets ADSL access I will surely get one again. At least our country is doing something like Netflix, despite the corruption and all the other horrible things going on behind the curtains. We are moving forward in terms of online streaming, slow, but were getting there. Plus netflix is US based, a huge portion of their shows are US based. What would the response be if this product only broadcast SA shows?

It would fail rather quickly and miserably

My point exactly. Although it is a big SA company starting this service it is still a startup company or project within another company. They have to start small with what they can get their hands on, make some money and expand. The same as with Netflix. They were not as big in the start as they are now. But just the people complaining like a couple of old ladies about the service before it even starts, lol just sad.

Showmax is not just for the SA market and Naspers is huge.

My 2¢… go big or go home.
