you pay someone to start something that isn't yours at a huge risk of getting no return what so ever?

I am more than happy to be a little devil. Any Angels out there willing to risk some of their money? ;)

Seriously, are entrepreneurs referred to here, or is it applicable to big businesses. I think what is needed in this country is venture capitalists that are willing to bet their money on entrepreneurs that may have good ideas, but lack the funding.

Sadly, risk taking has never been high on the agenda where South Africans are concerned. BEE has forced a lot of individuals to become entrepreneurs in order to make a living to survive. It is also stated by financial analysts, that it is the future commercial growth for this country.

One area sadly lacking is help with Patents, if you have a good design or idea the chances of getting anywhere are slim and the chances of getting copied are good

Yes. The point is, that you only need one of the 100 companies to take off. It will easily compensate for the 99 that did not.

Not a bad risk, if one has the money.
