I just can't keep up with the building prices... trying to secure a loan and the quote keeps changing. This came in from my builder today:
The last quote is in the region of R18 / sqm
1. Due to shortages in iron, the dramatic increases in materials and with predicted further increases, some of the quotes received from sub contractors etc. may have to be adjusted accordingly in time to come.
2. Copper prices went up +-10% in Jan and have just gone up a further 22,5% in March. There is a further price increase predicted for April.
3. Cement has gone up by around 10%, with another price increase in the next month or two.
4. Readymix Concrete has also gone up due to the cement price, delivery costs due to increased Diesel prices etc.
5. Marley, who manufacture piping , guttering etc, have increased their prices by 32,5% .
Hence some quotes are literally valid for 24 hours up to 30 days.
6. The sooner this project can begin and deposits made, materials that are due to increase substantially, can be purchased and stored until needed.
I trust my explanation of price increases is clear enough and please contact me should you have any queries.
Unfortunately we living in uncertain times, which makes quoting very difficult.
