Sim error

I haven't used my prepaid sim card in a few months, I popped it in today and got "Sim registration error". Is there a way I can reinstate it and still keep the number?

the number was probably recycled already....

All mobile SPs do that, the time frames vary.

Yeah sorry its gone. MTN and Cellc is the most aggressive with inactive sims. They recycle the fast. Vodacom only after like 7 months and 8ta/Telkom Mobile does not recycle them at all even if you port your number out your Telkom Mobile sim will just be issued with a new celphone number and you airtime and data bundles and recurring bonuses will still be applied.
