SIM-swap fraud skyrockets in South Africa's Covid–19 lockdown

SIM-swap fraud nearly doubled, and digital banking fraud victims lost over R309 million to criminals, according to the latest statistics from the South African Banking Risk Information Centre (Sabric).

Sabric stated that the Covid–19 pandemic and the ensuing lockdown had a notable influence on financial crime trends in 2020.

I ostensibly have 2FA on SIM swaps (MTN Secure), but MTN are so useless that I might need to test if they actually do implement it.
