I upgraded 2 of our bussines contract lines today. For one of them, a sim swap from micro to nano was required. "That will be R105 please - cash or card?" Was the line I got. I am on prepaid and I know for a fact I can sim swap over and over again for the price of a starter pack (99c at PEP).

It's robbery! (Sorry Ockie)

Did a sim swap from micro to nano at Telkom shop, free of charge on prepaid.

Do not blame Ockie but a gentleman known as Mr Sopher who controls all the business rules for the shops/franchises. He cannot be contacted as he protected by 20 levels of corporate secretaries (Firewalls) so do not even try. :D

Mmmm that is a bit steep. The stores that we manage charge R70.00 for a contract sim swop. For my contract customers if the line is on my dealer ID I dont charge at all.

R105.000 for the sim is on new lines, not sim swops

It is either free at Telkom or 10 bucks at CellC on prepaid (I did a SimSwop yesterday from Micro to Nano and I am okay with R10)

The last time I upgraded, I had to do a micro to nano sim swop, was not charged for it and Vodacom even gave me the new sim for free.

My sister upgraded last Saturday, had to pay R63 for the new sim but was also not charged for the sim swop process itself.

Perhaps I should clarify that I was charged the R105 for the nanosim, not the swap

Contract customers are screwed. MTN charge R3.50 for a nano on prepaid, TM you get for free and Vodacom charge R20 just for the SIM on prepaid. Do contract customer still get charged for such items as CLIP? It's a scam this.

This is an SIM security issue that requires "caveat", no wonder Ockie has not responded. Go a Vodacom shop or call customer care.

I just got charged the same on cellc, when my sim just stopped working after only 6 months. :wtf:
Daylight robbery, and not much i could do, as I needed to get my phone operational .. and they know this, so they fleece us :(

Have asked I.Am.Sam to get the contact person at the company to email me as he is not able to provide verification information. I will deal with the contact person at the company directly.

Resolved.

That's about what I charged when my son lost his phone and had to get a new one (contract).
Now I need to do a sim swap on mine (need a nano sim for the new phone)... Should I prepare to spend an arm and a leg too?
