Ive been reading over forums for about 30 mintues now and see some great threads and knowledgable members. Thaty being said i apoloize for this "dumb question"

I will be running a business out of my house that requires the top possible internet speed. I have currently have 11mbps which sucks.

My set up is a Lynksis N router with bellsouth

I read online about 100mbps or MBps.

Im currently looking at t1 is that the right path?

I see t1 is 1.5 mbps how is that better speed wise compared to 11mbps?

thanks

Sorry man, this is a South African forum (it is a country at the Southern tip of Africa. Africa is the big continent to the South of Europe)

I doubt whether anyone here will be able to help you.

I include a link with some info on this country, if you interested you can read up and broaden your horizons:

Lol also green with envy here, but to get back to the topic :

T1 speed = 1.544 Mb/s of which you get 1.536 Mb/s because of digital overhead.

Cable speed = Up to 11 Mb/s.

T1 is a fully digital signal giving the same speed up and down as it is a symmetrical signal. Cable and other broadband is asymmetrical because most people do more downloading than uploading.

As said, T1 is digital. Cable, DSL, dial-up are all analog using specific frequencies to encode the bits.

T1 uses two cable pairs, one for transmit and one for receive. They carry the fully digital signal both ways at the same time.

There's two big factors that make it expensive:

1) It's a dedicated line - that means it doesn't get slower if other people in your neighborhood decide to go nuts on the P2P and clog up the bandwidth - that bandwidth is *reserved*.

2) A big chunk of that money is paying for *service* - you hear of people who have their DSL or cable lines go out and it takes 3-4 days to get a repairman out? Well, usually a T-1 comes with an SLA (Service Level Agreement), where the provider *guarantees* that things work - and it's not at all uncommon to see clauses in the contract like "If the line goes down for 5 *minutes*, you get that day free, and if it's down for over an hour, you get the *month* free". :D:D

Or maybe the OP thought that his Wifi AP speed would affect his Internet speed.
