Simultaeous ISP Connections

Hi Guys

Anybody out there know if it is possible to set up two ISP connections to run simultaneosly on one ADSL modem. The idea would then be to use a linux box to route the local traffic through the local account and the international traffic through the international account.

From what I understand the openweb accounts do not discriminate between local and international traffic until your cap is used up. Seems a pity to use your cap up on local traffic if you don't have to.

Search the forum for route sentry it is for windows but it does what you are trying to do. Get a local only account from openweb and then anouther account for international.

Thanks for your quick reply Brian.

I was aware of route sentry but thought that it was only really usable if you are using it for connecting one pc to the internet

I have a small network with 4 pc's using the internet simultaneously, is is possible to use Route Sentry in that type of enviroment for the routing of the traffic?

You might be able to use it on every PC but that depends on how many simultaneouse connection the adsl accounts allow. Alternitivly if one of the PC's is always on you could put route sentry on one PC and then use internet connection sharing. DDproxy I think will help you, it's made by the same person who made route sentry http://antibody.za.net/extras/ddproxy.php

Yes - currently on my network I am accessing one IS, Web Africa, and two SAIX connections. Plus whatever one the router is using - its probably IS too atm.

its a good question how doi share only the local portion of routesentry for the other pc's?

I think routesentry is a great program. The only problem is that if you use a local account like openweb and a prepaid web africa, if you download newsgroups all day long, the idle usage of the prepaid is rather hectic. Its like a couple of megs an hour.

What router do you have? Just for interests' sake, cause AFAIK there's not that many routers that support bridge and router mode at the same time?
