I've just done a budget for a 2009 and single life is actually pretty expensive now that I pay 100% of everything again :/

Time to tighten belts ...

*sigh*

The income is cut in half, but so are the expenses. Not really more pricey to be single ...

yes but you can buy what you want, and only for yourself

The things i would buy if i was single:

a Multitude of beanbags for the living room
Every console along with a bigass projector
a Fully stocked bar

The dishwasher, dryer, living room set, and dining room set can go

The income is cut in half, but some expenses aren't ... such as rent. Which is quite a large percentage of expenses ;)

My ex didn't work, (except for taking my credit card out for shopping expeditions).

Since she left, I have more money than I know what to do with :)

Rent for a single person is obviously less worth your while, as is buying food in bulk sometimes. Can't eat it fast enuf =\

Look on the bright side - there's no second half who'll phone you every ten minutes when you work late :)

Also, you can do just what you want, eat cookies in bed, watch porn and so on without getting in a jam for that :D

My dishwasher and dryer also left, along with half my DVD collection

As a recently singled singleton I've found the biggest expense to be setting myself up with the most basic stuff. Kettle, microwave, couches etc... these all add up to one fat total of 'completely broke for the rest of the year'

/me offers to move in with Dolby

You supply the furniture and I'll pay half your rent :D

rofl.

If my other half was working, the money would be less of an issue, currently I'm paying both halves... not fun.

I've been hit on ... On the Internet too!

Fat chance Dolby. It was purely an offer of a financial arrangement.

hmmm....

/me makes an offer of another sort that also involves the exchange of money

NOW you've been hit on ;)
