I saw a couple of screens today, LG, Sammy, Sinotec and I must say the Sinotecs look pretty good for their price coming from a electronics snob

What do you think?

I think they are not the BEST there is - but sometimes their specials make it VERY good value for money.

so ya - not the best you can get, but also not very expensive.

if you can't tell the difference really and don't wanna spend a fortune - get it. if you can see the difference or are quite rich - get a huge sammy

My experience with Sinotec (not mine, thankfully):
Loads of inputs (good)
Inputs don't always work properly (bad)

Otherwise the picture is good. Haven't experimented too much with the various settings, but the default settings seemed good enough.

The actual look of the TV (the frame etc) doesn't appeal to me, though.

But for the price, it's a good deal.

Saw the 32 going for R3799 with 5 year warranty at GAME.

Same model I bought in July - Have not had any issues with it, connected to Sony amp and HTPC media centre, watching Hi Def series and Blu-Ray looks awesome.
Friends have Samsung and they have all had problems, the one overheated on the weekend - just out of warranty I might add, they were pissed
Boss's Sony W series went poof, power supply.
I think all these TV's are dodgy at the moment?

Great value for money, get something with good warranty.

I must concur. I've gone the Samsung route too and I'm not over impressed. My 50" Plasma suffers picture transition and my 42" Plasma just doesn't have the same vibrants compared to the 50". Nice sets but not significantly better than the Sinotecs I've used..

Correct, same effect as screen burn except it isn't permanent. In fact after a few minutes it does fade.

Example: The Supersport scoreboard at the bottom of the picture is usually still vaguely visible 5-10minutes after the game has ended.

Most annoying. I think my set is a bit of a dud to be honest. The 42" does not do this under any circumstances, brightness and contrast settings the same..

Robertvv is correct - Sinotec uses Old samsung modules and LG use New Sinotec Modules. As for Samsung, they just use Sony.

I bought a Hisense yeseterday from HiFi corp. 32" hd ready for R3800, has a 3 year warranty, and the frame looks a lot nicer than the Sinotec at game.

So you have two options for that price now.

You need to compare side by side. Otherwise unless you have a good eye for detail, all these screens look great when maxed out.

One thing to do, is to turn off all the junk features - all those colour/contrast/detail enhancers and then see what the raw output looks like.

However, you usually get what you pay for. If you're not a contrast/colour/viewing angle freak, they're ok, but if yes, get a plasma. A cheaper brand plasma will beat a more expensive brand LCD.

i saw that aswell.....thats a very decent price.and the Hi-Sense ads on tv make the tv seem real decent. at some stage you should post a thread about the quality and experience with the tv .more insight into the 'k@k' brands will be interesting

The 47" Sinotec is R9499 at game now. Going to purchase it tonight. Only issue is getting the monster home. I have a RunX. Will it fit if I put the back seats down? Otherwise, does anyone here know how much Game charges for delivery?
