Sita hits back at Home Affairs

The "system is offline" with no one to blame

The State Information Technology Agency (Sita) has hit back at the Department of Home Affairs (DHA), blaming the agency for its severe system downtime issues and inability to evolve digitally.

Home Affairs minister Leon Schreiber recently criticised Sita for allegedly hindering digital transformation progress across government institutions and getting in the way of the department modernising its services.

After reading the article, if it's true, then I dont believe the DHA at all. It seems most likely that DHA is unfairly accusing SITA, their story doesnt make sense. I tend to rank things in order, the ineptitude at DHA is 1000% far worse than at SITA, of which IT is their core business.

So is collecting money their business.

But yes, I tend to agree that DHA has more blame, here than SITA. SITA is not blameless either.

and these figures are conservative in both price and speed. don't get me started on what sita charges departments when new IT equipment is procured. R30k for a laptop that costs R5k at Incredible Connection. yes, this sht is still going on in government.

The way I see it SITA is the number one obstacle. Just let government departments do self procurement through the private sector.
