Six streaming services have pulled out of South Africa because of operating costs not justifying market size

You've basically just validated my comment. If the companies don't pay the fees then more from the state... more from the state is more from the taxpayers.

You pay for those "expenses" regardless, either via taxes, or the subscription fee you pay and sometimes you end up paying both. Tough.

Regardless of the crazy local hurdles, it's also a relatively small market and that market is quickly learning to jump ship with VPN's and other tools.

That's also the mistake Multichoice are making, misjudging locals' intelligence. Yet they continue to avoid too many needed service improvements.

We've been saying this for a long time, but MC doesn't seem to be going anywhere unfortunately.

This sll comes with the "We are a Monopoly " mentality, which Multichoice feels they are entitled to. Toughees ...

Difference there is they have the sports monopoly to cling to, but their grip is still slipping. And evident they're well aware of it based on a few recent improvements.

Canal+ will likely decide the future of local content. Fortunately they're not blinded by local politics.

I will celebrate that day when MC loses the only thing that keeps the majority of viewers.

I downgraded to easyview today and remembered to unlink PVR @ R120 and R99 showmax. I think dualview is free.

I had a feeling you would stay, lol.
What do you mean stay? Thats what I always do when I've had enough of premium. R29 is a small price to pay to not cancel incase I ever have to return. I also have an easy proof of address source for FICA. LM radio is also nice.

Okay but its a separate item in the app. I cancelled PVR and left dual view active.

If they mean XtraView, definitely charged for. DualView is (or was) only for an older system, for just one specific old decoder that's mostly off the market now - was also always charged for.

Maybe they mean including your single online / mobile access, nothing further is charged for that. But I would suggest you check if the second decoder is still marked as active.

BTW, look at 134 BBC UKTV, a nice bonus on smaller packages incl. EasyView these days.
