Skilled people are leaving South Africa in droves – and government’s unemployment plans can’t stop it

How many actually qualify after 7 years? Very, very few. They usually start dropping out within the first year.

Pharmacist Assistant (Retail) - if Dischem employs anyone else to assist the pharmacist it is illegal, which is highly unlikely.
Well if 250 didn’t get internships at the start of 2021, it means the rest did. I think 500 were allocated to private hospitals alone the government hospitals are the most sort after. So I would guess 1000 ish or more doctors could have qualified in 2020. Just their internships to finish.

It isn’t true that governments simply get out of the way and quality employment just happens. Typically in successful countries the government was heavily involved in pouring money into the economy. South Africa’s problems are more complicated and won’t be solved by utopian libertarian nonsense.

If he knew that doing the same stupid thing over and over for decades was a bad idea then why did he and his fellow idiots do it?

And has absolutely nothing to do with pharmacists.

Their situation is far more complicated, thanks to the SAPC, which has legislated many ordinary people out of their jobs: eg, jobs that were once performed by clerks must now be performed by pharmacists (which compounds the shortage problem). Furthermore, you are more likely to have a pharmacist exiting the profession to become Factory Managers, reps, CEOs, MDs, etc, etc than doctors.

There is nothing he can do. He should not get involved in these type of discussions or give any comments on it. People are leaving the country. He cannot stop the braindrain from happening. Best he can do is to work on strengthening the military and police. One never know when you will need them.
I agree. In the immediate situation, he cannot really do anything. The ANC destroyed the country over a period of time with destruction of the education system, lawlessness, corruption, no service delivery and ineffective business policies that only suit certain people.

In comparison to the EFF.
The EFF will destroy what is left of the country in a matter of days with land/property grabs.

Training to read doctors handwriting?
More recently - the last 6 months - I've been seeing doctors issuing PC typed scripts.

So, hopefully this trend continues / increases, and no more deciphering of handwriting needed.

Very few of my 100's of college colleagues returned to ZA after they emigrated. A few came back only because of family responsibilities etc. I'm here only because conducting business is much easier due to our political/social climate.

I have seen the same in recent years. Fewer friends and family are coming back. Had three friends who left in the 1990's and came back to SA. All three left again and none has returned. It has been more than 10 years now. I think the new moves are permanent. People simply do not have the apetite for what is coming...

Why would we give a toss about us leaving being bad for the country? We're uprooting our entire lives to get away from the place. Do you think we feel any loyalty to it?
One thing that I will say, is that, if and when I do leave here, I will leave the forum too. I don't want to even remotely become like those useless fscks sitting in New Zealand and other countries, and are on this forum, and moan about the ANC, as if it affects them, all the while sitting in a first world jib.

You leave the place, you move on, start moaning about your destination country, and the stupidity in Arsetalia with all its little regulations and laws. Nanny state on steroids!

Exactly.
The ANC cadres are destroying the lawn and then they want to blame apartheid for the lawn not being there.
Stupid is what stupid does.
Stupid communists do what stupid communists do the world over, cause trouble, let nuclear plants explode and blame something else.

Yep. I'm done with this place once I'm out as well.

Don’t understand why they do that.... there’s so much to do and learn about their new country yet they still sit on SA forums.
