SkyFi Fibre?

I was browsing the Vumatel website and see SkyFi are offering a 200/200 fibre connection for R1050.
What I find odd is that there is no mention of any fibre products on their own website.
They also have an activation fee of R6723 listed on the Vuma site which is odd.

Anyone had any dealing with them?

Just received a response from them:

Our installation includes, cabling (up to 30m) and a WiFi router and the cost and contract terms are as follows:

Month to Month – R 4999.00 (Installation Ex.VAT) plus activation fee R 899.00 (Ex.VAT)
12 Month – R 2999.00 (Installation Ex.VAT) plus activation fee R 899.00 (Ex.VAT)
24 Month – R 1499.00 (Installation Ex.VAT) plus activation fee R 899.00 (Ex.VAT)
36 Month – R 999.00 (Installation Ex.VAT) plus activation fee R 899.00 (Ex.VAT)
We absorb the Vumatel costs when choosing one of the above.

Our Package Prices are as follows
20Mbps -R657.02 Ex VAT P/M
50Mbps -R736.84 Ex VAT P/M
100Mbps -R832.46 Ex VAT P/M
200Mbps -R921.06 Ex VAT P/M
500Mbps -R1753.51 Ex VAT P/M

Still seems a bit steep compared to other providers and I don't think anyone wants to be on a contract.

Post above relates to the wireless product. Anyone have any experience with them on the Fibre side?

Prices are pretty resonable if you consider a 24 month contract... (I know people dont want to change, but I'm 36 months into my month to month with cell C...)

Skyfi Internet Solutions are without a doubt the worst ISP I have ever dealt with. They somehow manage to make Telkom seem professional. I was using there WISP service and although this thread is about their Fibre service, a badly run company will disappoint regardless of service or product. All I can say is stay far away from them!

No, it's about service, not their product, although they are equally K@K. Just remember that there is a reason why you pay less with them than anyone else. You get what you pay for...

So much this.

My contract was up a couple of months ago and the only reason I am still with them is because I am waiting for my fibre to be installed. They had the audacity to ask me whether I would be interested in their fibre offering. I laughed so hard I was unable to say goodbye before I terminated the call. I will forever in my life never EVER deal with these POS's again.

Their service is by FAR worse than Telkom's and resolution management is non-existent. They assume that all their customers are from the dark ages with not even the slightest IT knowledge and try to baffle them with BS. Unfortunately for them I am an IT professional working at Executive level with some of the biggest names in IT worldwide. Their inability to communicate with people and show even the slightest intent of being fair towards the consumer is what will prevent me from dealing with them again. Whether it be wireless or fibre, I will make sure every person I come into contact with knows what shocking service they can expect if they decide to do any kind of business with these clowns.

I wish comments were open on this article: https://mybroadband.co.za/news/indu...i-the-next-big-isps-and-how-they-compare.html so I could warn people about my experience. If I can prevent even one person from throwing their money away by signing up with them I would feel better.

Take it from me, lessons learnt and everything, DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM.

Got a 3 year contract with them in Jan 2019.. Got a 6.3% increase in March 2019.. 2 months into my contract!!!

STAY AWAY FROM SKYFI!!

This is what they threw in my face when complaining..

Please refer to clause 4.2 in your Skyfi contract that stipulates us to action an increase.
4.2. SkyFi may, by written notice to the Subscriber, vary future charges, either in the whole or in part, with effect from the date specified in such notice.
Kind regards,

Skyfi is a piece of ****

I only went to them because I can't get Fibre or decent ADSL where I live. The first year or so they were good, but the last 18 months they have been really crap.

I have 10mb connection and rarely get more than 2mb, that is if they are up. Their support is even worse than Telkom's.

They dropped their joining fee on month to month contracts to about R500 a few months ago on vumatel, so I decided to take one for the team and try them out so that I can report back on this thread.

First impressions, and even overall impressions are ok. They are clearly a small company, with their sales people even contacting me on whatsapp during the installation phase, and when I phoned them I got a receptionist that was clearly out of her depth in the "Ag jinne ek sal oom Piet vra om jou terug te bel" kind of way.

Speed-wise I've been really happy, I consistently get 180mb/s in both directions for local traffic, and around 50mb/s for international traffic. For the price, I think those speeds on an uncapped connection are great, and I haven't had any evidence whatsoever of throtteling or contention with other users.

Unfortunately, that's where the good parts end. Now and again they have have internal routing problems, which I've reported to them and explained to them (it's clear from a traceroute that I start losing packets one hop before their core bgp router, so no amount of restarting on my side will fix it), but they don't seem to have anyone technical who's even looking at it. These outages typically last only for around 30s to 2 minutes and occur around 10-15 times a week (I've been monitoring it when it gets bad), which is probably not a huge deal for an average fibre user, but for me who has to join calls or remote computing sessions during work hours, and sometimes plays games after hours, those interruptions are a huge annoyance. The speed is nice, so if you're purely looking for a connection to download or upload content, this isn't too bad. However, if you use it at all for work or gaming, I'd strongly suggest you get anything else.

This was exactly the case with their wireless offering as well. I also do Skype meetings and work from home on a daily basis (from around 3PM to 5/6PM) which is nearly impossible with this lot when the connection keeps dropping.

Thank the gods of broadband I now have fibre and I don't have to put up with them anymore.

I see their plans disappeared from the vumatel shop. (also vodacoms after I had endless problems with them the last week). I hope coolideas is really as cool as people say because I'm trying them next.

Cool Ideas all the way honestly. Just had my Fibre installed and took Cool Ideas based on every other person I know with Fibre using them.

Stay TF away from Skyfi.
They are undoubtedly the worst ISP in SA.

Not to mention how pathetic their CEO is...
Worst service I have ever received in my entire life.
I will take Telkom anyday over SKYSHIT.
