Hi.

Was just wondering if it is possible to use Skype on an Asus EEE ... a customer of mine wants to know.
Also ... do you think there is an advantage for her to get Windows XP Home on it ... she has 4GB space, but bought it literally to use skype ... and maybe occasionally a document.

Thanks

I know ubuntu and skype work on it, I do not have experience with the default distribution it comes with.

sorry my bad. lemme rephrase that.

i got the default xandros running on the kids one, and we put skype on there easily enough. i did it on day 1, so couldnt immediately remember if it came with it or not.

ok, rethink.
yes it has skype on it by default dammit biteme. what biteme did on day 1 was update the bundled skype 1.4 to skype 2.0 beta, as that has support for video

dammit biteme where is your mind today

Yes, Skype will work fine on it.

Yes, throw Xp at it. It is much better than the Linux flavour that comes with it. Just make sure you use an XP SP2 boot CD to install it and you're all set.

Well, I switched back to XandrOS, as I actually prefer it to XP. The machine doesnt really need to run many apps for me, other than what it comes bundled with. The only thing for me though, is that I needed a desktop environment, which is easy enough to do if you use the wiki on eeeuser.com. Also, as said above, Skype does come pre-installed.
